Fr. Frederick M. Aniello

Father Frederick Aniello was born in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of the late Angelo and Rose Pellegrino Aniello.  He graduated from St. Augustine School and from South Catholic High School both in Hartford.  He entered the order of Augustinian Recollects in 1968 as a Brotherhood Candidate.  Three years later, in 1971, he entered the Novitiate as a Clerical Candidate. 
In 1979, Father Aniello was ordained a Priest for the Recollect community.  One year later, in 1980, he returned to his native Hartford where he has since served in the Archdiocese of Hartford.  His first assignment in the Archdiocese of Hartford was as an Assistant Pastor at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Waterbury.  He also served as Assistant Pastor for Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Meriden and for St. Augustine Church in Hartford; where he was baptized and said his first Mass.  He later went on to become the Assistant Pastor at The Church of the Incarnation in Wethersfield and also at St. Peter Claver in West Hartford. 
In 2000, he was named Pastor of St. Luke’s Church in Hartford where he served for 7 years.  Fr. Aniello is currently the Pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Waterbury. Most of Father Aniello’s ministry has been toward the Italian community in Meriden, the Greater Hartford area and currently now in Waterbury. 
He serves as the State Chaplain for the Order of Sons of Italy in Connecticut. He is also the Chaplain for the Wethersfield Chapter of UNICO, Our Lady of Grace Society; an Italian organization in the Greater Hartford Area, and for the Italian Police Officers Association. Father served as Hartford Police Chaplain from 1992 to January, 2019.  
In 2012, Fr. Aniello was the recipient of the Good Citizens Award bestowed by The Grand Lodge of Connecticut Order Sons of Italy in America and in 2013 he received The Reverend John J. Fitzgerald Lifetime Achievement Award for his passionate commitment to the value of Catholic education and as someone who has given selflessly of himself for the benefit of others.  In a special ceremony on October 10th 2014, Fr. Aniello was bestowed with the Honorary Italian Mayor of the Day for the City of Waterbury, Connecticut. 
In 2015, Father received the Good Neighbor Award from the Town Plot Neighborhood Association from Waterbury, Connecticut.  In April, 2018, Father Aniello was appointed Pastor of St. Blaise Parish (formerly known as the Churches of St. Joseph and St. Patrick’s).
